Something really fun happened today. I was sorta lounging and Jay was outside doing something with tools to the thing he calls a bike. After a while he called me to go for a ride, I'm always ready to ride. I bounded out the door and came to a quick stop...where was the golf cart? I can't ride without that.

Jay was sitting on his bike telling me we were going to ride that thing?? How is this supposed to work?
Well, Margie put my blanket in what she called a basket and lifted me into it. Ummm, wait, whoa...you must be kidding?

Jay petted me and said that everything would be ok and for me to stay. Ok, I'll be trusting and I settled in for this ride.
We went around inside the RV park for a little bit and I got pretty comfortable. It was a lot more fun than I thought at first. It was almost as good as the treat I got after Margie lifted me down. I like treats and being told I'm a good girl.

Later we went for a ride uptown. The big trucks going by disturbed me at first. I kinda got used to that, but the ATVs on the road are real loud sometimes. Jay says I have to be still, so I don't wiggle, but I can still see things all around and that's nice. I was a very good girl and we had a good time.
I can do this bike thing. I can go all kinds of places now.
Hey, I guess that makes me a biker babe :)

I appreciate all the comments and they are always welcome.

Hi. It was nice and warm today. I spent some time napping in the sun outdoors. Jay went for a bike ride, but we spent most of the day together. We went for walks and visited with people and a few nice doggies in our park. Margie went with a neighbor to Parker to get groceries and the food I like.

Sometimes Jay and I sit and talk, like today. He tells me all kinds of things and I talk back with different sounds. I don't know if we understand each other all the time, but I enjoy our exchanges. Doggies like hearing humans talk, especially with their happy voices. But wait, I planned to tell you about something else.

While we were in Beatty Nv we drove to a place called Rhyolite. Its a ghost town, but we didn't meet any ghosts there. The only people who live out there are the ones called Caretakers. I'm not real clear on the attraction people have for such a place. There are only a few buildings that have big fences around them. The rest didn't look much like buildings to me. Jay explained that back in 1908 there were lots of people and buildings. They made millions of dollars mining gold there for a short time and then everyone just went away.

One place J & M liked was a house made of bottles. That sounds odd to me since I know water I drink comes from bottles. Jay said they were mostly from whisky and beer. I guess water bottles don't make good houses. The other building was the train station that was also a casino when the town had people. I know about trains, big and noisy. I was in a casino once and they are big and noisy too. Humans seem to like noise and there was no noise in Rhyolite anymore. Jay said we went there because its part of history. Well, it all looked like a bunch of sand and rocks from my point of view.

We loaded up and drove a little way down the old road to what they said was a museum. I don't get to go into museums, but this one was outside, so we walked around. There were old things that came from the town and some sculptures that really interested J & M. It was "The Last Supper". I heard they were made by draping fabric over people, covering it all with plaster. When its dry the person wiggles out leaving a strange shape. Maybe these are the ghosts of that town, after all. Margie walked around a prayer circle and said her prayers for a safe trip would be answered. Looking back, she must have been right.

I like snooping around, but history isn't really my thing. It did get my attention, however, when Jay said it was time to make some lunch. Food is one thing I understand very well.

That afternoon we went to the park back in Beatty to play and lay in the grass. I'll take a park over a ghost town any day.

I was really busy today riding on the golf cart with Jay. I like riding and I'm real good at staying on the seat while Jay waves at the people parking their RVs. He says he has to use hand signals to guide them into the space and make sure they don't hit anything. Sometimes they don't follow directions, so I have to wait longer to ride more. We ride sometimes so we can "check on things", whatever that means. Call it what you want, its fun for me.
It was a lot warmer today, but I still liked snuggling inside Jay's jacket.

I really am working on the next post about our trip. You'll have to pardon the delay since I had so much to do today.
Right now, I'm going to pester J & M till I get some treats. I'm a spoiled brat, do I got dis, LOL.

Gosh, I bet some of my readers were beginning to think I had disappeared. Jay has been busy doing things he says will help keep the RV warm easier this winter. It was cozy last night when it got cold outside. I've been just plain lazy and stayed burrowed under my blanket the past few days. I don't like being cold. I have a light jacket, but I'm getting a warmer, custom one cuz of my bum shoulder.

I was telling you about Las Vegas, a place I think is more for humans than dogs.
Now, Pahrump, Nv was fun. We were there 3 days in the spring and I got to go to the park everyday. One day they had lots of old cars. I'll have to take Jay's word about all the nice colors they were painted since dogs see only limited colors. They called it a car show and I liked it because Jay was having a good time. My favorite thing a was booth that was giving out free doggie snacks and helped other dogs find good humans to adopt. The dogs shared their water bowl I wished them good luck...they could see I was happy with the humans I had adopted.
We played in the desert and met some new people with dogs I could play with.
Jay & Margie only stayed in the casino long enough to use what they call "free play" that's given with some kind of club card by most casinos. I think we all had a good time in Pahrump-pa-pum-pum (sorry, Jay couldn't resist typing that, LOL)
They loaded up a whole bunch of groceries while I watched to make sure some new goodies were put into "my" cabinet.
The next morning we were off down the road again.

Our next stop was Amargosa Valley the same night. It was warm there and we stayed a week enjoying the comfortable spring weather. We did a lot of exploring. There were animals there too. They had a huge bull that I was told is one of the largest in the country. He's very old now. J & M liked the collection of antiques inside and around the grounds of the RV park. I liked the big grassy yard where I could play.

We went to Beatty, Nv next and it was a strange place. I never saw one before, but they have wild burros walking around town. Can you imagine that?? The relatives of the ones left in the desert now are descendants of burros used buy humans here about 100 years ago. Many of them will come right up to a person who offers them snacks. They like carrots just like I do, but they will eat them all up if I don't speak in time. One morning 2 burros came to our door looking for a treat. Margie gave them little rice cakes and I got one too. Burros aren't so bad as long as you make sure they don't eat all the goodies.
Beaty has a big park where Margie put down a blanket and we all relaxed in the sun after they went to a museum.
J & M had heard of an RV park with hot mineral baths, so we went there. I don't like baths and whatever minerals are didn't change things for me. They kept saying "bath" and "water", so for 5 miles I worried I would have to endure the
dreaded B-A-T-H. Wow, was I ever relieved when I heard no doggies were allowed in this bath. Whew....now, I could concentrate on meeting the dogs that lived there. They both had long shaggy hair and were fun guys. We ran around and they showed me their 2 buffaloes, some ducks, chickens, and a goat. Of course, I barked since these things were new to me. Jay warned me, but little barks kept slipping out with him shaking his finger as I tried to stop. That was funny because Jay was trying his best not to laugh. Margie was cracking up over by a tree. It was everything I could do to keep from barking louder. The hot springs place turned out to be good for us all. J & M relaxed a couple days and I had a great place to play with new friends. At that time of the year there were only a few RVs there and everyone was friendly. I liked the meals they all shared under the big tree. Doggies get lots of good munchies at those.

We also met up with a guy Jay had known in Arizona years ago. He was a nice guy, but his big dog was real old and didn't like little doggies much. Margie fed some more burros and this time I didn't get close enough to bark at them. I was tired from walking that day and fell asleep soon as we got home.

Next day we went to a place called a ghost town while we were in Beatty, but I didn't see any ghosts.
I'll tell you about that little adventure next time.

Today I had to supervise a project Jay was doing. He said it was going to get colder for the next several nights. One thing I don't like is cold (I like my blanket).
Anyway, Jay got some stuff he said was foil and bubbles to insulate some windows. I don't know a thing about insulation, but I'm all for it if it keeps me warmer. Margie handed him a tool called a tape that he held up to the windows, said some numbers and then laid it on the foil stuff.
Now, I knew I'd better keep my eyes on him with a tool in his hands, but then, he picked up a real sharp tool. That's when I figured I'd better put on my super supervisor look.
Everything went smoothly and I didn't even have to listen to any cuss words (this time, LOL).
Its comfy inside and I Jay said the heater is set lower. I guess all my hard work today being top dog was worth it.
You just don't know what a job it is watching over 2 humans, so you'll have to pardon my short post tonight.

Stay warm and snug.

Here I am dictating my blog to Jay as he types.

Luv you all
Hi everyone.
Gosh, I'm overwhelmed with the wonderful response to my new blog.

My bad shoulder keeps me from walking too far and there's lots of places doggies can't go into, like places that have food. I like going to Home Depot and places like that where dogs are accepted. I've even been inside a couple of casinos...they're too noisy for me.
I like lounging at home anyway. I get excited when Margie and Jay return from going out and they always talk about where they've been and there's always photos too.
Jay is looking for a good bike basket for me to ride along. I'm not so sure I'll like it, but we'll see. I really do like riding on the golf cart at our RV park, however. Jay carries treats we can share with other doggie friends too.

Well, our first day of our trip wasn't a long drive. We stopped at a WalMart for the night to make sure we had everything we needed, including those all important goodies for me. The next day we were off again in the big motor box.

Wickenburg, Az was a neat place. We parked where I could walk to some historic places easily. Now, dogs aren't interested in history, but my humans like that stuff. I just enjoyed us all being together having fun. We had lunch at a patio bar where the waitress brought me a small burger patty of my own. It was yummy and she scratched behind my ears just the way I like it. That night we stayed at a Safeway store, but I wanted to go back to that patio bar for more burgers.

The next day we went to Kingman, Az where we visited a friend's ranch. The big dog and I got along really well. I felt safe wandering around with him as he showed me all the cool places to pee and neat things to sniff. We wanted to stay longer than 2 days, but there was a lot of places yet to see, so off we went again.

We went to Hoover Dam. I didn't understand what that was all about, but there were lots of interested people. I was fine snoozing in my chair while J & M played like tourists. From what I heard, Hoover Dam is very important and supplies much of the electric used to light up Las Vegas, whatever that is.

The next day I found out about Vegas and a place called "The Strip" where there are casinos and lots of people walking around. Wasn't much there for doggies to do, but I did get to go for lots of walks and got my ears scratched by several nice people. At night there are lights everywhere and lots more people.
J & M went to many casinos and took lots of photos. I enjoyed one of my favorite things, lounging.
We stayed there for over a week. That's where we met up with Tony and Karen, a nice couple. I was kind of skiddish at first around Karen since she is in a contraption called a wheelchair. I wasn't sure what to make of this till I heard her legs didn't work at all. It makes my bad shoulder seem less significant, at least I can get around on my own.
Karen was sweet once I let myself get close enough  She also did a wonderful drawing of us in our RV that Jay put in a frame on the wall. Las Vegas was ok, but not the most dog friendly on "The Strip". J & M had fun, but there were too many people for me, so I got to go to a park nearby every day.

Next time I'll tell you about some places we went next. Many were small towns and I got to go more places in them. I think small towns are more friendly toward doggies.

Thanks to everyone.

Hi, my name is Bindi and I live in a motorhome fulltime. I travel with Jay and Margie who are a retired couple. We got this RV in July 2012 and this summer (2013) traveled from southern Arizona to to Oregon via Nevada. After 8 months and 4700 miles we have now returned to Arizona to winter in Quartzsite, a popular place for RVers to escape snow and hard winters.
Its been both fun and interesting with more upsides than down.
If you'd like to take a seat I'll tell you more about RV life as I see it.

First, let me clear up the fact that I'm a dog. I'm an 8 y/o red female min-pin and I don't like to be called a cheewawa and I dern sure ain't a weiner dog...I mean, no offense to those guys, but I am, after all, a min-pin.
Ok, a little about me, yes, its all about me cuz I like it that way, as any spoiled dog would.

Well, I spent most of my life in a horrable puppy mill. I was kept caged and made puppies for some jerk to sell. They chopped off my tail and at one point I lost a toe on a back foot. My left shoulder was even busted up and nobody bothered to have that fixed, so now I limp very noticably and that leg isn't much use. Its caused me to fall down once in a while. Abuse made my mind a total mess and it took me a long while to finally realize I'm not going to be hurt anymore and I am with people who would always love me.

That's where Jay and Margie come into the picture. Its been over 2 years since they took me into their lives.
You don't even want to hear about the nights I kept them awake crying my heart out. I was scared since I didn't know what was happening, nor did I have much faith in humans. It was a tough time for us all back then. I learned Jay's big feet weren't going to kick me and he wasn't going to hurt me. I took to Margie pretty quickly and she let me snooze in the chair next to hers. I was seeing a new side of life and began to like it.

We lived in a nice place, but they were always talking about something called travel and places they wanted to see. The only travel I had seen was when I was taken from Calif to Tucson and put in a foster home with a bunch of other scared dogs. Travel? Pfft, why leave a prefectly good place to live? Have these people lost their minds or what?

Then, one day we went for a ride in the car...I loved riding. I'd dance at the door when I heard the keys jingle.
I could tell they were excited about something big, so being a dog, I was excited too. (it just works that way, don't ask me why, I'm a dog). So, we met a man (I barked of course, you know, being all protective and stuff) and they talked for a while (I found a place to pee...several times, just cuz I can). Shortly we went for another ride in a big box on wheels. Inside it was sorta like a house only smaller. I didn't really like the feel of the big motor throbbing, so Margie held me in her lap. We got back and I made a beeline for "my car". They were standing by the big box shaking hands and passing papers between them and everyone was happy. Shortly I was told we were going in the big box they called an RV. What? What's wrong with going in "my car", after all, I didn't get a say in this deal. Ok, I'll go just this once...once, you hear me?

That's where all this travel talk began to really get carried away. They were actually putting our belongings into this RV thing and all happy about it. Some days went by and they locked the door on our nice place we lived and climbed into the RV.

I still didn't like the big motor, so I sat in Margie's lap looking out the big windshield. Wow, I could see a lot from there, but it was a little daunting. This was quite a bit for me to absorb.

We drove for a while and came to a place I was told would be our home base for a while. I had a fenced yard and there was desert around us. We could hear coyotes yipping at night, something new for me, so I barked, of course. We stayed there for till winter was over and things got pretty comfortable right where we were, I so thought anyway.

Then came the day late in March when I was told we were leaving that neat yard and my neighboring doggie friends. What the heck...can't these people ever stay in one place? One morning the big motor began its rumble and we backed out and drove away with me looking out that big window up front.

Stick around and I'll tell you about some of the places we've been and people we've met. You see, I've learned life in an RV isn't so bad after all, and there's lots of places I haven't had a chance to pee yet...for a dog that's an important thing, as you may have noticed.
Come back and visit often, as I'll be adding new things, including some pics.
